  • "Considered the spiritual part of the service, the nissuin connects a husband and wife with God. It includes the Sheva Brachot and the yichud. It was traditionally separated from the erusin, the legal part of the proceedings, by the reading of the ketubbah. Today, these ceremonies have been combined into one, all conducted under the huppah." (JPS)
