"These 21 sections trace Jewish history from the time of Moses’ death until the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem and the exile of the Jews to Babylonia. They contain detailed history and commentary on ancient Jewish civilizations. Nevi’im also has lengthy writings about monotheism, evil, and the wages of sin, much of which are written in a poetic form. The weekly haftarah readings are taken from the various books in Nevi’im."
