  • Marp is short for Marpe'ah, which was the word for infirmary on many kibbutzim. It became the word for infirmary at some early Hebrew-oriented camps, like Herzl Camp in Wisconsin and Massad in the Poconos, and then spread to many other Jewish summer camps.
